Leyla Shahid has worked for over 14 years on gender and intersectionality mainstreaming in public policy, strategic engagement and learning facilitation. Leyla has experience of liaising with a broad range of partners, including federal, provincial, and municipal governments in Canada, intergovernmental organizations, and international and domestic civil society organizations. Her style is grounded in participatory approaches that centre ownership, emphasize empowerment and value transparency. Leyla cherishes emotional literacy and diverse lived experiences, and centres intersectionality, the potency of systemic influences and complexity of identities in her work and personal life.
Leyla has a M.A. in Women’s and Gender Studies, and a B.A. in Economics. She speaks four languages.
