Ilya R. Espino de Marotta is currently the Deputy Administrator of the Panama Canal Authority. She has worked at the Panama Canal for more than 30 years in various roles, but is best known for being the the first woman to be appointed as Executive Vice President for Engineering. As the lead engineer on the Canal expansion project, she had to overcome skepticism of her capabilities. She wore a pink hard hat and safety vest while overseeing the Panama Canal expansion to show that a woman can do the job.
She obtained her Marine Engineering degree from Texas A&M, and her Masters in Economic Engineering from the Universidad Santa María La Antigua (The Old Saint Mary University in Panama City, Republic of Panama), also known as USMA. Ilya took Managerial Development courses at The INCAE Business School, located in Managua, Nicaragua and The Kellogg School of Management.
Angelique A. David is the Executive Managing Director, Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel of Ziegler, a privately held investment bank. Angelique oversees all of the day-to-day functions of the business, which include: legal, compliance, IT, human resources, marketing, accounting, research, and office services. Angelique also serves as a Director on Ziegler's Board of Directors and is a member of its Executive Committee. Prior to joining Ziegler, Angelique practiced law at Locke Lord Bissell and Liddell, LLP.
Angelique is a recognized leader in the securities industry and legal community. She received a 2018 Stevie Award for female executive of the year and was named as one of Chicago United's 2015 Business Leaders of Color. Angelique currently serves as Chair of Board of Directors of the Bond Dealers of America and as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Chicago State Foundation. Angelique is also a member of FINRA's Fixed Income Committee. Additionally, Angelique has also served as a guest editor of Modern Counsel and a contributing writer and member of the Advisory Board for the magazine, Girlfriends Health Guide for Women of Color. Angelique obtained her B.A. from Case Western Reserve University Magna Cum Laude and is a graduate of the Northwestern University School of Law.
